Paris Grey Dresser

This was a customer request piece.
She wanted a solid grey dresser, distressed, and add some bling to it!
I used ASCP (of course) in Paris Grey all over. I did about 3 coats on this piece. I have found out that if I keep my brush slightly dampened (with water) the paint applies better. It is a very thick paint to begin with. The added water lets you stretch the paint out more.

I found this piece on an online yard sale site,This is actually the picture that was posted. So as you can tell it was in good shape when bought, I did not do any extra work on it. It was in excellent condition. I always get my husband to pick up my pieces for me. This helps out greatly, (and also is safer :)

I decided to only add the bling knobs to the top of the piece because the others were in such good condition.
I got the top knobs from Hobby Lobby and they actually matched the bronze exactly to the old ones.
Also the knob that went on the middle door was so interesting I wanted to continue to use it.
If a piece has any type of design in the wood I try to play into it. I usually will heavily distress that one area with sand paper so it pops. I did this on the flower of this piece and the door.
After painting and sanding I added a clear wax to seal it. I didn't want to use the dark wax because she was not wanting to age the piece.
It turned out pretty, the client matched it with a  navy and grey chevron comforter.

Lil Miss Mary

Meet Miss Mary!
We have a love/hate relationship! She needed A LOT of TLC... Because I just loved her so much I couldn't give up. This is one of the pieces from my blog about Pickin. The top of the piece had been previously painted, sanded, water damage, basically destroyed. But visually looks amazing.

First I had to get my dad to help me nail back the top and wood glue it. (I've learned so much here lately)
After all that I decided to paint her Old White on the details and Coco all over, which I really like.

I could have fixed all the flaws in the chest but I really felt it added character.
I used about 3 coats of  paint on this piece. Each piece takes the paint differently. I wanted a full coverage.
I always sand my pieces before I wax because I like the way the wax colors the wood when sanded. ( if that makes sense) If it doesn't please leave me a comment below. The pictures below are after all coats of paint and sanded.

Below is after one coat of Clear wax. I now use the AS wax brush, I feel like it gives better coverage in the corners and details of the piece. Her brushes are really worth the money.

As I have said before I would have finished this piece after the clear wax application. But I have been wanting to use the dark wax so here is how it turned out! I put a thick layer of the dark wax on with my brush then used a clean rag to wipe over it after to make it smooth and even.
I really like how it aged the piece and gave it more character!

Home is Where Everything Is...

So..
I'm going to start a weekly view of my home..
Lets start out with my favorite room, my bedroom!
I love everything about it from the color of the walls to the style of the bed.
Here you go item by item.

My bed, ahhhh.... best thing we ever purchased! I would highly recommend a temper pedic (however its spelled) mattress.
Cast Iron bed Alabama Furniture Market
Side tables: TJ Maxx
Lamps: hobby lobby
Bed spread: TJ Maxx
Stars: Yard Sale
Bench: Going out of business sale

My tables do not match but thats what I like about them. Matchy matchy is not my thing..
If things flow, Im ok with it.

Introducing my favorite lady! This buffet was in terrible shape when I got it FOR FREE!
It was green and needed a lot of wood work and patching but it was more than worth it!

These hydrangeas came from my aunts garden a few years ago. Just cut them and place them in a container with NO WATER to dry out. Also I have found out that the limelight hydrangeas do not dry as well as regular ones. Just a lil FYI
Mason Jar: Prattville Pickers

This piece was done in ASCP and painted Old White with a light distressing.

I will post the Wall Paint color ASAP
Hope you enjoy and remember EVERYTHING is always for sale!
ALSO please comment and give me some feedback about my blog. Things you would like to know or where I got this etc...

Pickin!

HEY GUYS! This is the piece that started it all!
I find a lot of my pieces on various Facebook trading cites. I found one cute washstand on Vestavia Trading and went to the ladies house (not alone of course). If you know my mom she can talk to a wall. So after talking with the lady for a while she told us that her husband had just bought a farm house out in the "country".
Guess what??? She said the previous owner was an antique dealer and left all of his stuff there. Our next question was when can we come look at it!?
We set up a date and hooked up the trailer and off we went!

OMG! First off this "country house" was beautiful, wish I had took pictures...
The old barn was full of antiques! HEAVEN!!
We bought a trailer load of buffets, old doors, tables, and so on..
Check out my loot below. I'm working on a few of them right now and these are also for sale.
Just email me at jncarlee@aol.com

I have tons more furniture available if your looking for something in particular.

Revived 70's Piece

I got this beauty at a yard sale when I was leaving my bank! I had to do a lot of work to get her back into shape. It was not a solid wood piece, it was made from some type of fake wood. I was a little worried about it... I went with Annie Sloan Paris Grey and Old white on this piece.

I had to patch quite a few holes on this one. I just used a simple Russel Do It wood filler. I was worried about being able to tell after I painted it but you couldn't!!!! When I sanded the piece the dust from the paint help fill any crack or holes. Which is another reason I love this paint SO MUCH!!

I was thinking about putting a dark wax on it but after the first coat of clear I decided against it. I have a fear of the dark wax for some reason?? But i recently found out that its best to apply a layer of clear wax before your dark... hmmmm sounds better... I will try this in the near future and let you all be the judge....
I distressed this piece heavily around every edge then in the drawers where the old white is i scratched them lightly. I use a light grade of sand paper because I only want to get down to the top layer of the wood. I don't like to put scratches into the piece.

Love when clients send me a picture of their piece in their home!
Hope you enjoy!

Ahhh first time to blog ever!!

Hi!
I'm Jami and I don't know if anyone will be interested in what I like to do or what I say, but for the ones that do...
I am a Mother, Furniture caregiver, Ftness lover, and all that in between! I never have enough time to finish one thing before I'm planning another. My husband says I have issues and I'm beginning to see it. But I love seeing what I can create with a piece of junk and some paint! My day is filled with work, followed by an afternoon of playing in the yard with my Charli Bay, or washing paint off her because she likes to paint with Mommy! (and I let her :) Come follow me on my journey of turning something old into something beautiful!
